DTSU Foster Parenting Stake Holders

January 20, 2016

Nancy Crosley and Lizzie Swalley attended this meeting. The meeting pertained to the need for respite, foster and adoption care for Santee children. Best practices for recruitment of interested individual or families; the requirements needed to become a foster/respite care giver and the best ways to get interested people involved in the training.

I was contacted about another foster parent meeting the following week so I sent out an all staff notification. Staff members reported interest in becoming respite/foster care families. I took a list of six names to Ms. Coffman. That evening’s meeting was also an introduction to the program, it was much the same as the meeting on the 20th so I did not need to stay. The group decided that Wednesday would work best as their training times.  Ms. Coffman said she would contact people on the list about attending these classes.

Santee: Taking a Stand”

Mission Statement:

All organizations of the Santee Sioux Nation entities will utilize our resources to empower the Oyate to eliminate substance abuse fueled by the concept of Hduwaste ( ha-doo-wash-teh) making lives better for ourselves and our future generations.

Attending:

Tony Hoffman, Lizzie Swalley, Ruth LaPlante, Terri Grant and Moby attended this meeting. This was the 5th meeting of the coalition.

Information:
Discussion centered around what goals the coalition would like to see in place, revisiting the judicial committee (we would like to see this group active again), the group would like to see court outcomes and sentencing listed in published police reports and a list of all people placed on probation given form the courts to the police department.

The ISANTI HINAJINPI will be meeting again in March at 2:00-4:00. I cannot remember the date, but will try to get that information out to the staff.
