Employment Opportunities Santee Community School 6-162-0

Santee Community Schools,  (6-18-20)

I wanted to email about a conflict that will make it so there is no summer school the week of June 29 – July 3. I have had to ensure the State Fire Marshall that NO ONE will be in our school buildings that week due to the water being shut off including the sprinklers. This will mean that there will be no summer school. This includes any facility usage being canceled during this time frame too. I am sorry for just getting this out as I have had to work with many different vendors and people to ensure when this could take place.  Summer school hours will begin again on July 6.

Even though students will not be in the building for that week and there will not be any food service we will send home food with summer school students. At the end of next week your child will be sent home with 4 breakfasts and 4 lunches for the week of June 29-July 3.

Thank you for your support,

Mr. Hayes

Santee Community Schools,  (6-3-20)

We hope this letter finds you and your family safe and healthy during these times. We are in this together, and together we will get through this time. It is as important as ever that our young people remain engaged and have opportunities to participate in reading and math; please consider signing up for summer school. I wanted to address a few items that are very important as we begin summer school next week, host graduations and move into summer time schedules and activities.

Senior Graduation: We will have a Drive-In Graduation on June 11, 2020 starting at 5:30pm. We need all graduates here by 4pm for rehearsal on Thursday June 11th. The parking will be limited and we will start promptly at 5:30pm.  We ask that you please stay in your car during the program honoring social distancing. We will have a large projection screen with live video feed of the graduation ceremony. We will also have a FM broadcaster that will broadcast into your vehicles. We know this is a very important day to honor our seniors and we thank you in advance for celebrating them and their achievements.

Food Service:  Food service will continue in drive-up fashion throughout summer school for those 18 and younger. Students in summer school will be fed at school, those not attending summer school can get during our normal serving hours of 10:30am-Noon.

Summer Activities with Coach Rozy:  In collaboration with the Santee Wellness Center we will be working with Coach Rozy offering the health and wellness course at SCS. This will be a time to focus on speed/agility/healthy eating/ weight lifting. Students see specific times below.

Varsity Warrior Program (Grades 7-12): Monday-Thursday starting June 1- 3:15pm-4:45pm

We want you to know that we are thoughtfully and carefully preparing for a range of possibilities this fall. We are planning for options that maximize student time in schools while prioritizing the health and safety of all.  We continue work closely with local and state leaders, our local public director of health, tribal council and state health experts. Though it is too soon to know the details of what or how this pandemic will affect the fall, we are planning for many different options. We thank you for being a partner during this pandemic outbreak.

Have a wonderful week,

Mr. Hayes; Superintendent.
